Many charitable events are grass-roots efforts motivated by small groups of people with big hearts and small budgets.
All to often, local non-profit organizations are under-staffed and under-funded. And like the bigger name programs, less-known charity fundraisers deserve to be equally recognized and supported. And celebrated.
That’s why riceworks® invites you to nominate and vote for the charitable cause you find most uplifting and inspiring. Big or small, local or national, recognized or not, simply tell us how your non-profit cause is a shining example of “serving the greater good.”
Nominate The Cause That Inspires You Most
Has your charity or fundraising event helped the poor, ill or disadvantaged? Does it give back to your community or the world at large? Does it bring awareness and make a positive difference in the lives of those it supports through its good works?
Whether you’re a fundraiser for the charity or you’re simply a friend, supporter or a recipient who has benefited from the charity’s good works, we want to hear your story. By you doing so, riceworks® will help promote your cause on social media sites, our corporate websites, and on national television programs such as Real Life.
A Gift for You
And, for taking a moment to nominate your charity’s winning story, you can win $100 worth of riceworks® products—and up to $1000 worth of riceworks® samples for your next fundraising event. The Submitters of the three finalists will win the riceworks® prize gift.
We invite you to describe your “goodness” story here. Give us a brief description why your charity cause is important to you or to your community. We made the nomination form short and easy to fill out. Click here to submit a nomination.
How The Program Works
The “Show Us Your Goodness” Program starts December 14, 2009 and ends April 30, 2010 and is divided into three phases:
- Nomination & Endorsement Phase
- Judging Phase
- Voting Phase
1. Nomination Phase: You can submit a charity Nomination from December 14, 2009 through February 28, 2010. During this time you can invite family, friends and colleagues to spread the word and view your nominated entry.
2. Judging Phase 1: From the list of all eligible nominations, a panel of internal Snack Alliance/riceworks® judges will select three finalist Nominations. (This judging takes place from March 1 through March 15, 2010.)
3. Voting Phase: During the final voting phase (March 16 to April 30) you'll be invited to vote on the 33 finalist Nominations for the "People's Pick" Award by choosing the charity that inspires you the most. During this Voting Period the popularity standings of the 33 "People's Pick" finalists will be updated weekly.
Votes for the “People’s Pick” Award have no role in selection of final prize winners. The decision for the Grand Prize winner and two Semi-Finalist winners will be decided on by the six independent judges, all respected individuals who donate time and support to charities and fundraisers, based on the Judging Criteria.
Winners Announcement
The Grand Prize Charity winner receives $20,000 (CDN) and the two Finalists receive $5,000 (CDN) each. And the 30 winning charities for the "Sponsor's Choice" award each receive $1,000 (CDN).
Once the independent judges have made their decision, we’ll contact the Submitter and the Nominated Charity of the winning Nomination on May 20, 2010. Then we’ll publicly announce the Nominated Charities (and the Submitters too!) on the www.ShowUsYourGoodness.com website site on June 5, 2010.
What are the Prizes?
- Finalist Nominations (3): The Submitter of each of the three finalist Nominations will receive riceworks® products valued at $100.00, in addition to free riceworks® samples (not to exceed $1,000) (CDN) to support their next fund raising event.
- Winning Nomination (1): The Nominated Charity of the winning Nomination will receive $20,000 (CDN) or (US equivalent) in the form of a check.
- Finalists (2): The Nominated Charity of each Finalist Nomination will receive $5,000 (CDN) or (US equivalent) in the form of a check.
